Saturday was a fun filled day of driving through Wyoming and Montana. I went with a friend over to Cody and back through the East entrance of Yellowstone. Didnt actually do that much shooting until we got Yellowstone Lake.

Part of my Yellowstone ESCI class is actually going into the park and seeing some of its wonders. We went on a geologic trip looking at the parks many features. This past Saturday when we went was a typical day in Montana; sun, rain and snow all in the same afternoon. But it was fun nonetheless. Can’t wait for the next field trip, going to be just wildlife.

These are trees in Mammoth Hot Springs and the one above it is Grand Prismatic Springs at Midway Geyser Basin.

Well it’s not really my style, but today i was up in a Canyon with one of my friends who is a photo major and was working on an assignment, so i grabbed my macro lens and played with the butterflies, the flowers, and this big cool rock with beautiful light shinning on it.It added up to be a couple of hours of fun.

Being back in Montana means I’m out exploring a lot. There is one particular place that i wanted to go for the last couple years but never was able to get into because the gate was always closed. The Lewis and Clark Caverns, a very cool place with amazing opportunities for those that don’t mind some walking and cave diving. We have to take a guided tour into the caves for security, but before we do, we have to climb this lovely 350ft climb.

The cave itself is less than a mile long, but every foot has beautiful formations no more then an arms reach away. In the last couple of years the path has been upgraded with some lighting, making more subjects pop out.

There are two main chambers, a decent of 600ft, and even a pool. There was even a few hundred bats above. Unfortunately i was so lost in my own little world capturing images that I wasn’t listening to well to the guide as he went through names. I’m definitely going back soon.

Well I’m back up in Bozeman, spent the last 2 days driving to get here. The school semester begins shortly and summer is nearing an end. I split up the drive, Saturday was Mammoth to Salt Lake and yesterday was Salt Lake to Bozeman. Before i left Salt Lake though, i stopped at the Bear River wildlife Refuge. Unfortunately they were closed and i couldn’t get into the auto tour road. There were some water fowl along the ten mile road to the tour road, but nothing spectacular, nor did i get any good shots of those birds. The sky was cooperating with nice clouds, so the flowers and old building worked. Guess ill just have to go back another day.
