A Special Day Around the World

Today is World Elephant Day. Think about that for a second. A day dedicated to just one animal all around the world. This one species has become such an image of love and admiration that people from around the world give thanks for it being here with us. Sadly over the years Elephant numbers have dropped due to poaching for their ivory, which is truly terrible. Not even a hundred years ago, Elephant ivory could grow over 3ft long but due to poaching, the big individuals were taken out of the gene pool and now today’s Elephants can no longer grow that big. Today we celebrate and protect this great species as it is one of the last truly large mammals that walk the=is earth.
