A Couple of Vietnam Favorites

I’m still enjoying going through images from the last month and that’s sorta fueling these random blog ideas I have. Since Yesterday I did a couple Korean Era jets, why not switch over to some Vietnam Era ones today. This first one I had never seen fly before and that’s the F-100 Super Sabre. The F-100 was designed as a supersonic fighter bomber able to fly at Mach 1. It served in the US Air Force from 1954-1971 and played several roles in multiple conflicts and tests. It lead the way for other supersonic aircraft.

Now this other one is another one of my personal favorites and not just mine as it is still used today by many other countries. The A4 Skyhawk is a carrier capable attack aircraft reaching speed up to 600 mph and able to carry multiple types of ordinance including a nuclear bomb. This aircraft was so effective during Vietnam that it lasted as a trainer for decades in the US Air Force and as a front line fighter for other countries all the way into the 21st century. Over the last fifteen years most of them have been slowly upgraded to other aircraft so no country uses them anymore. They are still seen amongst collection and museums and due to the large quantity produced there are several preserved examples.
