Enjoying the Hole in the Clouds

The one thing that bugs me about winter shooting is all the days with grey skies. I find it very hard to get inspired when it’s just a wall of grey clouds outside. Not clouds with a little definition to them, just a solid grey wall. It’s boring. I’m glad we’re getting snow but those clouds just suck. So this past weekend we had a small break in the clouds so I grabbed the camera and rushed down to the river.

Now I love the Gallatin River it’s just surrounded by Cottonwood Trees and it’s lovely all year round. It’s actually much wider than it appears but with the ice only a sliver shows of the river. With a combination of a 24-70 and 14-24, capturing those wide winter landscapes is easy. I do enjoy when the images are a simple click.
