The Other Side
It’s interesting how the more you read about history you start to realize how much you want to hear from both sides. It’s a common philosophy in any war that the winning side tells all the stories, keeps the technology, and gets the legacy. It’s not hard to understand why but it does make one wonder about the other side.
This plane is a perfect example of that philosophy. This is a Focke-Wulf Fw 190. A beautiful plane with a sleek and powerful design which made it a fierce opponent in the early years of the war. Today there is less than a handful of surviving Fw 190 examples in the world. The planes were destroyed at the end of the war and with that most of the parts to rebuild any that did survive. This is one of the prime examples that still flies and I have had the opportunity to photograph it both on the ground and in the sky. Now I’m sure I’ll get an email about the insignia on it’s tail and me posting about the plane, but bare in mind one very important fact; it’s a piece of history.
