A New Airshow to Play At

It always amazes me what can happen with photography. This past July I was part of a photo shoot at Oshkosh that was one of the most fun and most important ones that I had ever been on. I had no idea at the time what would become from that shoot but apparently it made some people very happy. This past weekend I was down at Upland, CA for the Cable Airshow at the Cable Airport, first time I have been to that particular airshow, and it was a blast. The show is Saturday and Sunday and is the first show of the New Year. This was the 37th annual event, and is the only one they host all year. The rest of the year the field is host to nonprofit events by the Cable family.

I got in Friday afternoon for the flyin and general meet and greet. It was a really great crowd of people to be among and a lot of fun. It seems like anytime that you know somebody at an airshow, the show becomes more fun. In this case not only were there people to talk too about the field and the planes but also having a hanger to work out of was helpful. The show officially kicks at 8am on Saturday but the planes are off flying long before hand. As you can see the field is anything but flat, which makes takeoff and landing tricky.

This New Standard is one impressive plane, absolutely beautiful inside and out but also busy as ever. That plane holds four people and a pilot and all day it would go back and forth flying people around, for those nostalgic airplane rides. It made for a pretty good subject as it was flying by.

These were the early starts to the morning and they only get better as the day and the weekend went on.
