The hills a glowin

It’s that time of year again when we head up to Reno to spend those few fabulous days at the Air Races. It’s always fun, exciting and totally different from anything else we do during the year. However, having spent so many years up here in the mountains and knowing that it is another dry summer, we were upset to see a fire not far from the hotel on the ridge. It might seem odd to blog about it but it is something that we think about often with the surrounding area.

Dad and I spent about an hour watching and shooting the fire as it went up the hillside, down the saddle and then stopped by the fire crews. Got to hand it to them they did a great job from keeping that fire from heading down the ridge to the homes below. Soon after they got the burned area on the southwest side under control the wind changed and the smoke was coming right at us. We left knowing that the skies would be hazy, the air would smell like burnt sage and the fires were being well tended by some expert crews; thankful for that.
